Trump Rally & Impeachment Vote: A crowd chanted, “Send her back!” at President Trump’s rally in North Carolina last night, echoing his tweet from last weekend. Remember: Trump's tweet essentially told four Congresswomen of color to “go back” to the countries they came from, and those initial tweets are also the reason the House voted on the impeachment issue for the first time. Lawmakers in the House voted yesterday to table the measure.

Barr Contempt Vote: The House voted to hold Attorney General William Barr and Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross in criminal contempt of Congress. It's likely a symbolic vote, but it's tied to the citizenship question Trump wanted to add to the 2020 census. Both Barr and Ross were subpoenaed for documents relating to the president’s attempt to add the question, but they refused to hand the info over. El Chapo Sentenced: The Mexican drug lord known as "El Chapo" will spend the rest of his life in prison. Joaquin Guzman was sentenced to life behind bars. He sent massive amounts of cocaine into the U.S. over the last two decades. On top of his sentence, he’s supposed to hand over more than $12 billion he made from dealing drugs. Guzman has been in solitary confinement since his arrest more than two years ago. He did not apologize when he spoke in court, but used his time to talk about the confinement, saying it was torture and “inhumane" -- though he's escaped a Mexican jail twice.

Overdose Rate Down: The number of drug overdose deaths in the U.S. went down for the first time in 20 years. New preliminary government data shows deadly overdoses were down about five percent last year compared to 2017, perhaps because doctors are prescribing fewer opioids and more drug users have access to treatment. Experts call the new stats “encouraging,” but they say the death toll is still too high.

Heat Wave: A major heat wave could bring the hottest temperatures of the summer for parts of the U.S. The National Weather Service issued excessive heat watches, warnings and heat advisories for the Plains, Midwest and parts of the East through the weekend. Temperatures will be in the 90s and more than half of the U.S. will reach 100+ degree.

FaceApp Concerns: People have been posting photos of themselves looking older (or younger) using an app called FaceApp to create the altered photos, but with its popularity also comes privacy concerns. Some experts worry the Russia-based app is holding onto users photos after they’re uploaded or getting other data off users’ devices. FaceApp says most pictures are deleted from their servers within two days.

Hiding Instagram Likes: Instagram is expanding a test to see the impact of hiding the number of likes on posts. The test has been expanded to some users in six more countries, including Ireland, Italy and Japan. It’s meant to get users to focus more on the photos themselves, rather than their popularity. No word on if/when it might come to the U.S.
