Fast-Tracking Deportations: Starting today, the Trump administration is changing the rules to fast-track deportations. The change from the Department of Homeland Security means a larger number of people could be sent out of the U.S without an immigration hearing first. The change affects undocumented immigrants in the U.S. who have been in the country less than two years. The Trump administration says this change is going to help deal with the backlog in immigration courts and free up space in detention centers. The ACLU plans to sue and says this rule change is “unlawful.”

Puerto Rico Protests: As expected, hundreds of thousands of protesters shut down a major highway in Puerto Rico. The protests lasted well into the night when police then began firing tear gas and rubber bullets into the crowd to clear the streets. Protesters are hoping to force governor Ricardo Rosselló to step down after leaked messages showed him saying vulgar, offensive things. Protesters are also mad over how long it’s taken to recover from Hurricane Maria, the island’s weak economy, and reports of corruption. Though Rosselló won’t run for re-election, he is refusing to step down.

Britain’s New PM: Britain’s new prime minister will likely be Boris Johnson. The official announcement is expected today. The new leader will replace British Prime Minister Theresa May, who will be stepping down on Wednesday. Johnson and his main competitor in the race, Jeremy Hunt, have spent the last month hoping to win over the Conservative party members who got to vote and choose the next PM. The new prime minister will have until the end of October to get a Brexit deal passed.

Equifax Settlement: Credit-reporting company Equifax will pay at least $650 million to settle multiple cases and lawsuits against the company stemming from a massive data breach about two years ago. Hackers got a hold of the personal info of nearly 150 million people, and Equifax has been blamed for having lax security and putting profits over privacy. The record settlement will go to government fines, legal fees and consumers.

India’s Moon Mission: India is officially on its way to the moon. The mission started yesterday with a rocket launch carrying a lunar lander. The unmanned spacecraft is expected to reach the moon in September. If successful, India would become the fourth country to land on the moon.

Microsoft + OpenAI: Microsoft is putting a billion dollars into an AI startup called “Open AI.” The startup says it wants to build AI that is able to reason and solve unfamiliar problems, and do it in a safe way that helps humanity. Though it could have big benefits, experts say there is also potential for serious consequences if designed poorly. Billionaire Elon Musk is one of the startup's founders.

Anthem Health App: Insurance company Anthem is launching a new health app, which will be the first of several apps from insurers where patients can schedule doctors appointments, text with doctors, see test results, keep pictures of health issues and pay health bills. People that aren’t covered by Anthem can still use the app. Testing will start in Indiana within the next week.

Apple Updates: Apple just rolled out official updates for all of its devices. The iOS 12.4 update has some new features, like being able to directly and wirelessly transfer data from one iPhone to another. It also has reportedly has support for the upcoming Apple Card, which is set to be released sometime over the summer. The update for the Apple Watch includes a security fix that re-enables the walkie talkie feature.

Glow-in-the-Dark Sharks: Scientists say they’ve recently identified a new shark species that glows in the dark. The pocket sharks are about five and half inches long, and they let out a glowing fluid from a tiny pocket gland near the front fins. Researchers say they also have light-producing organs all over their bodies to attract prey who are drawn to light. Only two have ever been reported.

Mister Rogers Movie: The trailer for A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood is here! Tom Hanks will play beloved TV host Mr. Rogers. The feel-good movie is inspired by a real-life friendship between Rogers and a cynical journalist and is set to be in theaters November 22.
