Florence Update: Hurricane Florence is now considered Tropical Depression Florence, so the winds have calmed down, but it's still taking a toll. Major river flooding and flash flooding is happening in both North and South Carolina, and it. is. still. raining. At least 18 people have died and hundreds of thousands don't have power. Concerns about flooding could last weeks.

Typhoon in SE Asia: A different deadly storm hit Southeast Asia over the weekend. The typhoon hit the Philippines, then Hong Kong and then mainland China. Millions evacuated and search and rescue efforts are still underway.

SCOTUS Nominee Accused: There's a serious accusation against the U.S. Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh. A woman now says he and his friend sexually assaulted her when they were teens in the 80s. Kavanaugh says not true. Big Deal Plea Deal: The Russia investigation just took a turn. The former Trump campaign chairman, Paul Manafort, took a plea deal and agreed to cooperate with investigators. Text Test Thursday: Get ready to get a text message from the president -- sort of. FEMA is testing out its "Presidential Alert" system for the first time. Longest U.S. Flight: It's not all the way to the moon, but Hawaiian Airlines says it'll launch the longest flight within the U.S. The nonstop trip is from Boston to Honolulu and will take more than 11 hours. The flight will be available in April 2019.
