Tune in weekdays for 10-min news roundups:

For a second week in a row: the Chinese-owned social media app, TikTok, faces a possible ban in the U.S., starting midnight on Sunday.

President Trump says the app poses a national security risk without American oversight. Ultimately, last weekend’s ban didn’t happen since Trump says he would sign off on a deal in the works between the app’s parent company, ByteDance, and the U.S. software giant Oracle as well as Walmart.

However, the Chinese government is calling the deal ‘dirty and unfair,’ and may not give its blessing. So, at this point, it’s unclear what will happen next.

Today, you’ll hear from two people: a TikTok influencer who relies on the app to make a living, and a cybersecurity expert who helps analyze what, if anything, a possible deal could change for data security.
