Dems Threaten Subpoena:
House Democrats say they'll subpoena the White House as soon as tomorrow for Ukraine-related documents, if they don't get them voluntarily. President Trump tweeted Democrats are “wasting everyone’s time and energy on BULL****” Secretary of State Mike Pompeo confirmed that he was listening in on the controversial Ukraine call, and the former Ukraine special envoy is set to testify today.

Bernie Sanders Hospitalized:
Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders has canceled all of his events until further notice following an emergency heart procedure. His senior adviser says he’s in good spirits but will be resting over the next few days. It’s not clear yet if Sanders will take the stage at the next Democratic debate on October 15th.

WWII Plane Crash:
A World War II-era bomber plane crashed and caught on fire at the Hartford airport yesterday in Connecticut. At least 7 people died and several others were taken to the hospital. The cause of the crash is under investigation.

Former Cop Sentenced:
A white former police officer shot and killed her unarmed black neighbor in his apartment while off-duty. She claimed she went into the wrong apartment and thought he was an intruder. She was found guilty of murder and sentenced to ten years in prison yesterday. Protesters said she wasn't given enough time behind bars, but the victim's brother hugged her in court in an emotional, unexpected act of forgiveness.

Market Drops:
U.S. stocks fell this week as investors continue to worry about the economy. The S&P 500 and Dow Jones dropped after reports showed big slowdowns in both manufacturing and hiring. More economic reports are expected this week.

MLB Playoffs:
The Washington Nationals and the Tampa Bay Rays took the last spots in their divisions after winning wildcard games this week. The American League Division Series starts tomorrow, but first, the National League Division Series begins today.

Google Privacy Tools:
Google just announced another set of new privacy tools: an incognito mode for Google Maps and an expanded auto-delete feature that includes YouTube. Google is also adding a way for users to check their passwords security level, and you can ask Google's voice assistant to delete the recordings for the last week. Most of the features will roll out over the next month.

Microsoft Surprise:
Microsoft announced a new foldable smartphone. The Surface Duo will have two side-by-side 5-inch displays that are connected by a hinge. It’s set to launch in late 2020. The company also showed off a new dual-screen computer and a new pair of wireless earbuds.

Melinda Gates just committed $1 billion to help promote gender equality. She wants to see more women in the position to make decisions, control resources and shape policies. The money will be rolled out over the next ten years.

Joker Premiere:
Joker is expected to make its debut in theaters tonight and may break records this weekend. There’s been plenty of hype and controversy leading up to the release, since the movie follows a deranged assassin. Critics worry it glamorizes a mass killer, so some theaters are beefing up security this weekend.
