Public Impeachment Hearings - Day 1:
The public phase of the impeachment inquiry begins this morning. House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff and the top Republican on the committee Devin Nunes will lead the questioning of Bill Taylor, the acting ambassador to Ukraine, and George Kent, a deputy assistant secretary at the State Department. The hearings begin at 10 a.m. EST and will be shown live on TV.

U.S. Catholic Bishops Elect First Latino Leader:
U.S. Catholic bishops elected their first Latino leader. Archbishop Jose Gomez is an immigrant from Mexico who became a U.S. citizen in 1995. He has made it known that he’s disappointed by some of President Trump’s immigration policies. He says he hopes DACA is extended. So far, it seems the U.S. Supreme Court is divided on the issue after hearing oral arguments yesterday.

Biggest U.S. Milk Company Bankrupt:
America’s biggest milk producer has filed for bankruptcy. Dean Foods has been losing business as milk alternatives like soy and almond milk have grown in popularity. Dean Foods is responsible for milk brands including DairyPure, Friendly's and Land O’Lakes. The company plans to use the bankruptcy process to address debt and look for a buyer.

MLB Investigation:
A former Houston Astros pitcher says his team used a camera to steal signs from the opposing teams the year they won the World Series. MLB is now working with the Astros to investigate.

Kaepernick Comeback?
Colin Kaepernick could be making a comeback. The former quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers is planning to attend a private training session hosted by the NFL this weekend. He says he wants to get back on an NFL team. Remember: he was one of the first players to kneel during the National Anthem, sparking controversy, and he hasn't played for the NFL since the 2016 season.

Facebook Pay:
Facebook is rolling out a new payment service called Facebook Pay. It will let users send and receive money across all of Facebook’s apps, including Facebook, Messenger, Instagram and What's App. Critics may think this is another attempt to keep regulators at bay, since some political leaders feel Facebook is too powerful.

Instagram Reels:
Instagram is testing out a new ‘Reels’ feature that is similar to the popular video app TikTok. It lets users make short videos set to music and share them on their stories or directly with friends. For now, Reels is being tested in Brazil only.

Emotional Jeopardy! Answer:
An answer on Jeopardy! brought host Alex Trebek to tears this week. A contestant bet nearly all of his $2,000 and wrote in “What is - we love you, Alex" as his answer. Trebek choked up as he read the answer. He had announced earlier he is re-entering treatment for pancreatic cancer.

CMAs:
Carrie Underwood will host the Country Music Association (CMA) Awards for the 12th year in a row, though this year it's with co-hosts Reba McEntire and Dolly Parton. The 53rd annual CMA Awards will air on ABC at 8pm EST.

People has named singer John Legend as its 2019 Sexiest Man Alive. Legend is one of only 15 people to have 'EGOT' status, meaning he's won awards at the Emmys, Grammys, Oscars and Tonys.

Work Wednesday - Five-Hour Work Day:

A small German company has been testing out five-hour work days. The CEO says if an employee can focus on their job without distractions, they can finish their work within the five hours. Phones, social media and chit chat aren’t allowed while working, though. Some employees say there’s a lot of pressure to complete the same work in shorter time. The company ultimately limited the five-hour days to the summer months only.
