Impeachment Hearing Recap:
Day 1 of the public hearings in the impeachment inquiry is now complete. Ambassador Bill Taylor’s testimony brought up new information based around a previously unheard of July phone call. Taylor's staffer overheard President Trump asking another official about “the investigations." The other official then reportedly said Trump cares more about the investigation into the Bidens than Ukraine. Today's podcast episode breaks down more of the testimony and the arguments from both political parties. Another witness testifies tomorrow, and eight more are scheduled for next week.

Deval Patrick 2020:
Former Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick is expected to make an official announcement today that he's joining the 2020 Democratic primary. Patrick missed the deadlines to be on the ballot in both Alabama and Arkansas, but he believes he’ll appeal to a wide variety of voters in a race with no clear frontrunner.

KY Election Double-Checked:
Officials in Kentucky will double-check the vote totals in the recent race for governor. The Republican candidate is refusing to admit defeat after the Democratic candidate appeared to win by about 5,000 votes. The recanvass is not technically a recount, but it means officials will ensure each county’s records match what was provided to the state. Results are expected as soon as this afternoon.

Record-Breaking Cold:
A bunch of cold weather November records were broken across the U.S. this week, as expected. Parts of the Midwest saw single digit temperatures and some southern states had temps in the teens. The weather should be back to normal by this weekend.

Google Checking Accounts:
Google will start offering personal checking accounts through its Google Pay app. The company has partnered with CitiGroup and a small credit union at Stanford University. The “smart checking accounts” would come with insights and budgeting tools. The accounts will reportedly be ready next year.

Nike Leaves Amazon:
Nike is pulling its products from Amazon in order to focus on selling to customers directly. The split ends a pilot program that started in 2017, which was meant to prevent the sale of fake Nike items.

Razr Reboot:
The Motorola Razr phone is officially making a comeback. The iconic flip phone has been rebooted as an Android smartphone that can fold in half. The Razr will cost about $1,500 when it arrives in January.

Netflix & Nickelodeon:
Netflix and Nickelodeon are teaming up to create original animated content based on old and new Nickelodeon characters, including a Spongebob Squarepants spinoff. The move will likely help Netflix deal with the new competition from Disney+, which already has more than ten million subscribers.
