Nat'l Day of Mourning: Today has been declared a national day of mourning to honor and mourn former President George H.W. Bush, who died Friday at the age of 94. A state funeral will take place at the Washington National Cathedral.  President Trump will be there. Former President George W. Bush will give one of the eulogies. Federal offices, post offices and the U.S. financial markets will be closed today.

Stocks Down: Even though the financial markets are closed today, they tanked yesterday. The Dow Jones fell nearly 800 points. One of the reasons? Concerns about the trade war between the U.S. and China. Turns out: that 90-day truce between the two leaders (made over the weekend) may not have been a solid deal, and investors are worried about the impact on global economies.

Michael Flynn, Roger Stone: Special counsel Robert Mueller says President Trump's former national security adviser, Michael Flynn, cooperated in the Russia investigation early on and deserves little to no prison time. On the other hand, Trump's longtime friend and adviser, Roger Stone, says he'll plead the 5th if interviewed by a Senate panel on Russia ties.

Facial Recognition: A high-tech test is coming to the White House. The secret service is reportedly testing facial recognition to identify people 'of interest' in the area. Critics, like the ACLU, say it opens the door to using surveillance on Americans who don't know and didn't agree to it.

NHL + Seattle: The National Hockey League (NHL) is heading to a new city: Seattle. There's no team name just yet, but there's time. The team will start playing in the 2021-22 season.

Min Wage for Uber, Lyft: Drivers for Lyft, Uber and other app-based car services are getting a raise... at least in New York City. It's the first U.S. city to set a minimum pay wage for those drivers. The company execs aren't thrilled and say there's a better way.

Samsung Ad Spending: New data shows Samsung spent more on advertisements and promotion in 2017 than any other company in the world -- surpassing Procter & Gamble. Samsung spent $11.2 billion on ads last year.

Host of 2019 Oscars: Comedian Kevin Hart announced it on Instagram: he'll be hosting the 2019 Academy Awards. He'll be only the fourth African-American to emcee the show (in its 91 years). He called it an opportunity of a lifetime. The Oscars are Feb. 24, 2019.
