Final Farewell: Today former President George H.W. Bush will be laid to rest on the grounds of his presidential library on the Texas A&M campus. Yesterday, his son, former President George W. Bush choked back tears as he remembered his father. There was also a rare occasion: five living presidents and first ladies were all in the same room. It seemed a little awkward between the Trumps and everyone else, considering they’ve all criticized each other. Watch the moment here.

U.S. Marines Missing: This is still developing, but reports say a still unexplained mishap off the coast of Japan leaves five U.S. Marines missing. Japanese officials say they’ve rescued at least two of the seven on the two aircraft involved. One is said to be in good condition while the other’s condition is unknown. More details expected soon…

USA Gymnastics Bankruptcy:  USA Gymnastics has filed for bankruptcy. AP reports the organization is diligently working to reach settlements in dozens of lawsuits over sex abuse. Remember: hundreds of gymnasts blame the organization for failing to supervise former team doctor Larry Nassar, who is currently in prison on molestation charges. USA Gymnastics officials say bankruptcy won’t impact the amount of money received by survivors.

Huawei Exec Arrested: The Chief Financial Officer of China’s Huawei Technologies has been arrested by Canadian authorities on behalf of the United States. Huawei is the second-largest smartphone maker in the world, and one of the world’s largest telecom equipment manufacturers. The CFO, Meng Wanzhou, is accused of violating U.S. trade sanctions against Iran. She’ll likely be sent to the U.S. to appear in court. An Huawei spokesman said he doesn’t know of any wrongdoing.

Facebook Papers:  Secret documents from Facebook have been released by British Parliament. Up until now, the papers, part of a lawsuit in California, were under-seal in the United States. Business Insider says the papers include internal emails from CEO Mark Zuckerberg and reveal how Facebook gave companies special access to users’ friends’ data. Facebook says it never sold people’s data and called the documents “misleading without additional context.”

Beef Recall:  Heads up: there’s another recall on raw beef. The recall, which originally occurred back in October, now includes more than 12 million pounds of ground beef that could contain salmonella. It’s all from an Arizona meat producer but may have been sold under names like: Showcase, Cedar Farms, Kroger and others. The recalled beef was packaged from July to September of this year and a couple hundred people have already gotten sick.

Best Places to Work:  Glassdoor released its list of best companies to work for in 2019. The top ten includes Southwest Airlines, Google, LinkedIn, and even In-N-Out Burger. Number one: Bain & Company—a management consulting firm headquartered in Boston.

Best, Worst States for Drivers:  The Midwest is the best…at least for drivers. The 2018 Bankrate Best States for Drivers study found North Dakota, Iowa and Ohio are the top three states for drivers. To no surprise, California took last place. The study considered seven different factors including driver cost, safety, commute time, and gas prices.

Justin Timberlake Cancels:  Justin Timberlake has cancelled yet another show per doctor’s orders. Timberlake has said his vocal chords were “severely bruised.” So far, JT has postponed eight shows in a row on his “Man of the Woods” tour, and he’s likely to reschedule more.

Globes Hosts:  Andy Samberg and Sandra Oh will host the 76th Annual Golden Globes on January 6th in Los Angeles. This is only the second time in Golden Globes history that the award show has been hosted by a duo. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler were the first back in 2013.
